Papier Present blows out 50 candles and has an incredible story to tell. A story of 50 years of entrepreneurship, perseverance, investment, innovation, digitalization, and teamwork based on authentic core values and a strong vision. Papier Present from 1969 to 2019... let our exceptional story inspire you!
1969 | The beginning
Papier Present was founded by Mr. Vandenbrempt in Wemmel in 1969. His focus? A wholesale business in gift wrap for retailers and merchants. In the pre-digital era, having a good commercial base was essential, and that was found at Trade Mart in Brussels, which was, and still is, the 'place to be' for distributors, importers, and manufacturers in the retail sector.
1980 | The growth
In the 70s and 80s, Papier Present experienced organic growth in customers, regions, offerings, and products. As the sector grew, Papier Present evolved from a supplier of gift wrap to a wholesaler of plastic and paper carrier bags. Through experience and expertise, hard work, and smart investments, Papier Present grew into a thriving and expanding business.
"Good value for money, personal service, and a high degree of flexibility in offerings and delivery times."
1990 | The first takeover
In 1990, Papier Present was taken over by Micha Van Overloop, who had been active in the business for several years. He retained the values of a strong family business by continuing to focus on good value for money, personal service, and flexibility in offerings and delivery times. Digitalization set in, which led to the rise of printing and customizing carrier bags and gift wrap.
2000 | The move
The rise of the internet literally and figuratively opened the sales doors to the world. Papier Present imported products from Asia for the first time, investing in reliable and sustainable manufacturers that were carefully screened for working conditions. The company was able to achieve significant growth, which necessitated a move to a new location in Merchtem in 2004. The new location had a spacious warehouse of 750 m².
"With a motivated and dynamic team, Papier Present became a well-established name in Belgium and neighboring countries."
2010 | The second takeover
In 2010, David Van Overloop, Micha's son, took over Papier Present. David has a passion for the product and a strong connection with the customers. He consciously embraced sustainability, innovation, and ecology, launching a new range of reusable bags made from materials like jute, cotton, and felt. Processes were optimized, resulting in shorter lead times, enabling faster and more personal service for customers. With a motivated and dynamic team, Papier Present became a well-established name in Belgium and neighboring countries.
2019 | The vision for the future
Papier Present celebrates its 50th anniversary, and it's fantastic to see that the core business of being an "expert in packaging" has only strengthened since its inception in 1969. The showroom at Trade Mart Brussels (link to the article) is still running and opens its doors every Monday for retailers, shop owners, and entrepreneurs who want to discover the latest packaging trends. The future vision of Papier Present is to differentiate in the luxury segment of custom-made packaging at a competitive price while maintaining personal service.
2019 is a celebratory year for Papier Present, and we are celebrating it together with our customers! Whether you're a loyal or new customer, we have a ‘golden giveaway’ for everyone in honor of our 50th anniversary.
